I have always loved cooking and after having children I took the opportunity to explore authentic Turkish food and discovered dad’s Köfte recipe. Keeping it fuss free (no breadcrumbs, no eggs) and adding a mix of herbs, just like Baba did and using a mix of lamb and beef ‘The Baba Kofta’ arrived! It’s a really popular choice.
Exploring new ways to make my love of cooking into a business, my new ‘baby’ – ‘Ebbys’ Kitchen’ was born in 2012.
We started trading at Alexandra Palace Farmers Market and remember the warm welcome we received from traders and customers alike. Being part of the market was the inspiration I needed and six great years on you can still find us there every Sunday near the bread stall.
As the kids grew older so did ‘Ebby’s Kitchen’. We slowly started to explore other markets and found ourselves amongst the best street food traders in London. Trading with the Shepherds markets and Startisans took our Baba Köfte to major London sites.
After a lot of hard work, being out in all weather, balancing the needs of a family (school projects, swimming lessons etc.) with the demands of a new business we are really excited to introduce ‘Melissa’, our beautiful new food truck in Lamb Street, Spitalfields E1. You can find us there Monday- Sunday between 11.30 till 3 serving up our Köfte, Halloumi Wraps and Gluten Free salad boxes. We have stayed true to our homemade Baba Köfte as well as introducing The Chicken Köfte as part of a range of delicious offerings.
We are evolving and growing slowly, but authentically, keeping it fresh and simple, using the best ingredients, keeping it homemade, keeping up the hard work.
Please do come and see us at Lamb Street, Spitalfields and other major London lunch markets.
You won’t be disappointed.
